The Austrian Fire Brigade Association Medal for Distinguished Service in Disaster Relief (Katastrophenverdienstzeichen) is awarded for service in disaster operations outside one’s own federal state or abroad as long the state fire brigade association or the (federal state) government has not bestowed another award for the operation.

Medaille für internationale Zusammenarbeit

The Austrian Fire Brigade Association Medal for International Cooperation (Medaille für internationale Zusammenarbeit) is designated for foreign firefighters who have made a significant contribution to cooperation and/or encouragement of camaraderie between foreign firefighting organisations and Austrian firefighters.

Verdienstzeichen des Österreichischen Bundesfeuerwehrverbandes

The Austrian Fire Brigade Association Medal for Distinguished Services (Verdienstzeichen des Österreichischen Bundesfeuerwehrverbandes) is awarded for special firefighting operations, for excellent and successful performance during an operation and for special service in Austrian fire brigades in cooperation with firefighting organisations abroad.

The Austrian Fire Brigade Association Medal for Distinguished Services is awarded at one of three levels – bronze, silver or gold.

The Austrian Fire Brigade Association Cross of Merit

Verdienstkreuz des Österreichischen Bundesfeuerwehrverbandes

The Austrian Fire Brigade Association Cross of Merit (Verdienstkreuz des Österreichischen Bundesfeuerwehrverbandes)  is awarded to state fire brigade commanders, their deputies, professional fire brigade commanders, district fire brigade commanders, heads of departments and their deputies and other fire service officials of the same rank for ten years of service in firefighting in Austria.

The Cross of Merit is also awarded to firefighters who have demonstrated outstanding achievement under extraordinarily dangerous circumstances that involved risking their own life as well as fire brigade members who have demonstrated outstanding tactical, technical or organisational achievements that promote firefighting.

All nominees for this award must be previous recipients of the first level Medal for Distinguished Services.

The Austrian Fire Brigade Association Great Cross of Merit

Großes Verdienstkreuz des Österreichischen Bundesfeuerwehrverbandes

The Austrian Fire Brigade Association Great Cross of Merit (Großes Verdienstkreuz des Österreichischen Bundesfeuerwehrverbandes) is awarded to firefighters who have performed a firefighting operation under particularly dangerous circumstances that involved risking their own life.

Fire brigade members who have demonstrated outstanding tactical, technical or organisational achievements that decisively promote firefighting in Austria may also be nominated for the Austrian Fire Brigade Association Great Cross of Merit.

The Great Cross of Merit is awarded to members of the Executive Committee for five years of service in firefighting in Austria.

All firefighters nominated for this award must be previous recipients of the first level Medal for Distinguished Services.

Großes Verdienstkreuz am Bande

The Austrian Fire Brigade Association Great Cross of Merit on a Ribbon (Großes Verdienstkreuz am Bande) is the highest honour bestowed by the ÖBFV.

The Great Cross of Merit on a Ribbon is awarded for achievements under particularly dangerous circumstances where the recipient risked his or her own life. The Great Cross of Merit on a Ribbon can also be awarded to firefighters who have made a significant contribution to promoting firefighting in Austria through their tactical, technical or organisational achievements.

The Great Cross of Merit on a Ribbon is awarded to members of the Executive Committee who have previously received a Great Cross of Merit in recognition of their outstanding contribution to promoting firefighting in Austria.

The Austrian Fire Brigade Association Ring of Honour

Ehrenring

The Austrian Fire Brigade Association Ring of Honour (Ehrenring des Österreichischen Bundesfeuerwehrverbandes ) was created to recognise deserving members of the Executive Committee who have made outstanding contributions (ÖBFV president, ÖBFV vice presidents and all state fire brigade commanders). The person being recognised must be over 61 years old.

Florianiplaketten

Floriani Plaques (Florianiplaketten) are awarded by the ÖBFV to persons or institutions that have promoted firefighting in Austria in an outstanding manner and are not members of uniform wearing organisations. The Floriani Plaque is awarded at one of three levels – bronze, silver or gold.
